A Hidden Gem

The Faltering Fullback, often nicknamed ‘The Fullback’, is off the beaten track, nestled away on a leafy residential street in North London’s Finsbury Park. Our enchanting Irish pub, adorned in ivy, has become the best worst kept secret in London and is a local favourite.

The pub comprises multiple rooms for different purposes, we have a beautiful green and peaceful garden, buzzing front bar, the lively ‘Sin Bin’ and quiet side bars for those more intimate moments. There is something for everyone.

Quirky Front Bar

The entrance bar is where you’ll find our friendly locals. The horseshoe bar will greet you instantly upon arrival. The ceiling of the front bar is packed out with a peculiar collection of sporting memorabilia and various vintage antiques and oddities.

The quirky interior is often met with a fabulous Irish Trad band playing traditional music huddled around a table surrounded by many punters chatting, dancing and sipping away their pints.

The Magical Garden

If you manage to pull yourself away from the bar, the lively music and buzzing atmosphere of the pub you will stumble into the secret garden that is hidden away from view. You’ll be delighted you found it. Our enchanting award-winning beer garden is designed like a multi-layered Ewok treehouse. The different levels of decking expose a cosy maze of seating and secret cubby holes surrounded in Ivy creating a perfect place to relax and unwind.

This magical garden oozes charm and provides a tranquil oasis to enjoy your refreshments from the bar and the delicious Thai food making its way out of the kitchen. The garden is the ultimate spot to wine and dine in both the warmer and cooler months, equipped with heaters so that it can be used all year round.

A Rugby Hotspot

The Faltering Fullback is a Rugby hot spot, the Sin Bin is a designated area within the pub intended for a mass of sport fans to come together to enjoy big match days. This room is set with rows of picnic tables, two large TV screens, the walls are draped in signed rugby jerseys, flags, scarfs and sport related props.

This room is lit with moody red lighting, with no windows in sight, making it the perfect cinema room to watch sport. When the big games are over you can be sure that the night will not end there. The stage, piano and microphones are then swiftly put into action ready for live music to be belted out late into the evening.

Our Heritage

The Faltering Fullback was formerly known as the Sir Walter Scott and was first established in the 19th Century with the name being changed in 1994. Patrick Fitzsimons became landlord in 2001 and with the backing of his parents, turned this quiet backstreet boozer into a busy vibrant hot spot for sport and music. Mikey, Patrick’s youngest brother joined the fold in 2015 as GM.

The Fitzsimons family hail from West Limerick and were publicans in Ireland before emigrating. Having moved to London in the Nineties they have worked hard together to make their Irish pubs a family affair, creating a special unique setting for everyone to meet up, have a drink, eat good food and have the craic.
